With a foundation from UCLA School of Medicine, Dr. Joe L. Ruiz has dedicated his career to emergency medicine and patient care across California—from leading emergency departments to building a longstanding private practice in Beverly Hills. Alongside his clinical excellence and commitment to service, he has devoted his life to both healing and inner growth. A student of Raja Yoga meditation for over 36 years, Dr. Ruiz brings a grounded, mindful presence to his work—embodying the balance of rest, renewal, and compassionate care.

With a background in business and information technology, Sami Kannan serves as a Program Manager at Kaiser Permanente, where he has worked for over six years. Alongside his professional role, he has been a dedicated student of Raja Yoga meditation for over eight years and has been sharing this practice through teaching for the past four years.

Sami brings a values-based approach to both his work and service—offering meditation and mindfulness sessions, as well as facilitating programs in journaling and self-leadership development. Rooted in the principles of inner awareness and the power of virtues, his work supports greater clarity, resilience, and balance within healthcare and service environments.
